$100,000 Dogwood Stakes Draws Full Field of Twelve

On Saturday at Churchill Downs, the featured race is the $100,000 Dogwood Stakes. Restricted to three-year-old fillies, the Grade 3 event will be run at seven furlongs on the main track and has drawn a field of twelve.

Super Majesty has been installed as the morning line favorite in the wide open field at odds of 5-2 for trainer Jerry Hollendorfer. Purchased for $400,000 as a juvenile, the bay daughter of Super Saver has won two of her three starts and will be stepping up to stakes company for the first time. After winning her first two starts, she was second in an optional claiming race last time out at Del Mar. Alex Solis will be aboard and they will break from post position five.

Huasca trying for first graded stakes score

Second choice at morning line odds of 7-2 is Huasca for trainer Efren Loza, Jr. Bred and owned by St. George Stables, the gray daughter of Tiz Wonderful has been on the board in eleven of her twelve starts and is a four-time winner. She will be trying to earn her first graded stakes victory after winning the Ugame Stakes at Gulfstream Park last time out. Eddie Castro will be in the irons and they will break from post eight.

Well-bred Chide looking to make the grade

Also in the field at morning line odds of 6-1 is Chide for trainer Al Stall, Jr. Bred and owned by Claiborne Farm and Adele B. Dilschneider, the dark bay filly is from the first crop of Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) winner Blame and is out of a multiple graded stakes winning mare. She has two wins from five starts and will be trying to earn her first black type victory. Shaun Bridgmohan will be aboard and they will break from post four.
