Solano Racetrack Facts:
Planning for the Solano Racetrack began back in 1938. Ownership began the process of securing land and money. However, like so many race tracks in the United States, all plans were halted, because of World War II. Ownership was determined to open a horse racing track in Vallejo, California and after World War II, plans resumed. On February 22, 1948 groundbreaking ceremonies for the new Solano Racetrack took place.
Excitement was in the air as the plan for Vallejo horse racing was finally coming to fruition. Horse betting fans would have to wait a little while longer as horse racing did not commence at Solano Racetrack until 1951. The wait was worth it. Today, Solano Racetrack has one main course. It is 7/8ths of a mile long. Solano Racetrack features appaloosa, quarter horse and thoroughbred racing. Aside from live horse racing action, it also features great simulcast action year-round.
