The facility opened in April, 1997 and hosted almost 22,000 spectators on its Grand Opening Day, pulling in $1.4 million in wagers that day. That entire first season was a huge success for Lone Star Park as it averaged almost $2.4 in its total daily handle, which ranks first among U.S. tracks built after 1970. It features a seven-story grandstand area of about 280,000 square feet. If you prefer, you can stay down on track level, or opt for various terrace and box seating. This area boasts more than 600 TV monitors and a huge Jumbotron in the infield. The track has a one-mile clay oval that is 90 feet wide and measures 950 feet from the final turn to the finish line. The turf track is a 7/8 mile oval with six degree banking on the turns and checks in at 900 feet from the last turn to the finish. Simulcast wagering is available seven days a week and features dashes from all across the country, while the Lone Star Park also hosts some major live races on Texas Mile Day, Dallas Turf Cup Day, and Lone Star Million Day. All traditional horse racing bets are accepted including trifectas, exactas, and daily doubles, while visitors are encouraged to sign up for a Star Player Rewards account to accumulate points for use at the facility while you wager. The facility boasts countless entertainment options ranging from gift shops, dining and concessions to top-notch reception rooms and an art gallery. Lone Star Park has attractive group rates suitable for parties of 10 to 10,000 upon request. |
