If Edgar Prado's name sounds familiar, it's probably because he was also the jockey on Barbaro. In the 2007 Kentucky Derby, Scat Daddy gave it a run, but he tired and dropped out late. Despite finishing well in the Florida Derby and wearing the orchids, he was only good enough for 18th in the Kentucky Derby. The fastest time for the Florida Derby was set in 1957 by Gen. Duke when he finished the 1 1/8 mile race in 1:46.80. The Florida Derby is one of those races that many horse bettors watch, because the winner will most likely be running in the Kentucky Derby.
