It is currently ranked 3rd among North American harness racing tracks and does not take horse racing lightly. They have 15 races per day, six days a week during the meet - November through April. Each year Dover Downs features high stakes action and featured stakes races. Dover Downs is no longer just a horse racing venue. It's a complete entertainment destination complete with horse race betting, casino games, hotel and performances. The Dover Downs Hotel has hundreds of rooms and a conference center. They feel it rivals anything Atlantic City or Las Vegas has to offer. Many people think of the Meadowlands Racetrack when it comes to harness racing. However, Dover Downs is the harness racing king of the hill in the United States. The Progress Race is one of the crowning jewels of the stakes races at Dover Downs. This year, it will be an estimated half a million dollar stakes race.
