Wyoming Horse Racing

The state of Wyoming has a history deeply entrenched with horses and is home to several facilities that still hold live racing. Though the industry has struggled in recent years, there is still live racing held for several days each year at four separate facilities.

Wyoming Downs

Wyoming Downs has experienced a renaissance in recent years and has hosted an abbreviated racing season after not holding any live racing for several years. Though granted 16 days by the Wyoming Pari-Mutuel Commission, they only ran 8 of them but did feature large fields on each of those days and saw gains in both attendance and handle. In 2017, Wyoming Downs is hopeful to run a full 16 days and has recently added historic racing terminals.

Sweetwater Downs

Sweetwater Downs is home to Quarter Horse racing in the state and races for four days at the Rock Springs facility. They also host a total of twelve other racing days throughout the year which are split between the Central Wyoming Fairgrounds and Energy Downs (Can-Plex) which both operate under WHR, LLC.
