Eleven Set to Compete in $1 Million Woodbine Mile

On Sunday at Woodbine, some of the best turf milers in North America will compete in the $1 million Woodbine Mile. The Grade 1 race will also land the winner a coveted spot in the starting gate for the Breeders’ Cup Mile to take on defending champion Wise Dan.

The morning line favorite in the field of eleven is Kaigun for the powerhouse barn of Mark Casse. The four-year-old gelding is fresh off of a victory in the Play the King (G2) and is a perfect two for two over the Woodbine lawn. That was the first graded stakes victory and the fourth overall win of his career. Patrick Husbands will be back in the irons and the pair will break from post position five.

Jack Milton going for first Grade 1

Second choice at morning line odds of 7-2 is Jack Milton for trainer Todd Pletcher. The four-year-old son of War Front was last seen finishing third, beaten a length, behind the highly-regarded Seek Again in the Fourstardave (G2) at Saratoga. Regular rider Javier Castellano will remain aboard and they are slated to break from post nine. Owned by Gary Barber who also owns part of Kaigun, the dark bay colt is going for his fifth win.

Highly-regraded Bobby's Kitten taking on older horses

Chad Brown will saddle Bobby’s Kitten as a longshot at morning line odds of 15-1. Bred and owned by Ken and Sarah Ramsey, the three-year-old son of Kitten’s Joy was named in honor of the late Bobby Frankel. Joel Rosario will be aboard and was the pilot for his career debut last July. Since finishing second in the Hall of Fame (G2), the bay colt has had three consecutive bullet workouts and will break from post position eight.
