Evangeline Downs is a racetrack and casino that's located in Lafayette, LA. In fact, it was the very first "racino" build in the United States from the ground up. A "racino" is a horse racing and casino facility. The main track in this state-of-the-art facility is a one mile long oval. Construction is just about complete on the new turf course, which will measure seven-eights of a mile long. Evangeline Downs is situated on 750 beautiful acres. The backside of Evangeline Downs features 1,000 stalls.

Evangeline Downs race track features both thoroughbred and quarter horse racing. Thoroughbred horse racing takes place from January through the first part of September. The quarter horse meet takes place from mid-September through the end of November. Evangeline Downs is not as widely known on a national level, but it features great horse track wagering action and is a local favorite.
